Vitamin deficiency in palliative care patients
The primary goal in the treatment of palliative patients is to maintain and/or improve their quality of life. To achieve this, one of the aims of palliative care is to reduce the symptom burden. Common symptoms in palliative care patients are pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea and vomiting as well as neurological abnormalities and deficits. These symptoms can be triggered by a lack of certain vitamins, among other things. In a comprehensive study, we want to determine the blood concentrations of vitamins B1, B3, B6, B9 and B12 in palliative care patients in order to investigate possible correlations with typical symptoms and develop new treatment options in palliative care.
