CODE - Care of the Dying Evaluation

Validation of the questionnaire "Care of the Dying Evaluation (CODE)" for loved ones of deceased patients in German-speaking countries

The aim of the project is the content-related and formal validation of the German version of the CODE questionnaire (CODE-D). Furthermore, feasibility, cost and burden are to be tested. The questionnaire should be suitable for assessing the quality of care for patients in the last few days of life and their loved ones in different clinical settings in the German-speaking area. The provision and use of a valid, reliable and feasible questionnaire will contribute significantly to quality assurance in the care of the dying and their loved ones. With the help of the questionnaire, gaps in care can be identified and subsequently be addressed through suitable improvement measures.

The study is carried out at the two study sites Mainz (Johannes Gutenberg University Medical Center) and Erlangen (University Hospital).

The project is funded by the German Research Foundation, DFG. (Applicants: Prof. Dr. Christoph Ostgathe, Prof. Dr. Martin Weber, PD Dr. Stephanie Stiel)
