Research collaborations

Internally, we cooperate with the departments for haemato-oncology, neurology, radiation therapy and gastroenterology. A cross-faculty consortium of palliative medicine, geriatrics and microbiology on the one hand and health economics and psychogerontology on the other has been founded with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Externally, an alliance with the Chair of Palliative Medicine in Mainz was developed, which has funding for different projects on the quality of dying by the German Cancer Aid (DKH) and the German Research Foundation (DFG). At the international level - together with eight other European countries - the Department of Palliative Medicine was involved in a project (OPCARE9) funded by the European Commission with the aim of improving end-of-life care.
